Jim and his wife Rebecca have lived in Southwest Harbor for more that 20 years. He came to this beautiful island from upstate New York and was educated at the Pratt Institute of Art in NYC. He has 14 years of experience in real estate and over 20 years of experience in architectural and marine design. Jim prides himself in providing personal and high quality real estate services with honesty and integrity while honoring and respecting the natural resources of this area. During his free time, you can find Jim hiking or playing music with the St. Andrews Scottish Pipe and Drum Band.

Born in Washington, D.C., Cuff(Cuthbert Russell Train)attended Cathedral schools there, graduated from St. Mark's in Southborough, MA and Princeton University where he majored in philosophy and won eight letters in squash and tennis.

The following three years, he attended The Episcopal Theological School, and served in the Marine Corps Reserve, Parris Island and as seminarian at the American Cathedral in Paris before taking an MA in political philosophy at the New School.

In 1968, he married Barbara Kent Lawrence and began twelve years teaching, she, history, sociology and anthropology, he, English. In 1970, they had Michael Cuthbert Train; in 1973, Elizabeth Kent Train, Harvard graduates.

In 1979, the Trains left suburbia to live year-round on Mount Desert Island, summer retreats for both their families, starting Train Properties, eventually a real estate development, construction and brokerage firm Cuff sold in 2005. The Trains divorced in 1995.

The following year, Cuff met Anne Welles, a veteran teacher in Southwest Harbor, and they have been steadfast friends since. Anne has Laura and Will, grown twins.

In 2002, Anne obtained her real estate license, working part-time at Train Properties, work she continues with Cuff at Margo Stanley Real Estate.

Childhood memories, summer vacations on Islesford, a love of the ocean and outings in Acadia inspired Anne to make Southwest Harbor her year-round home.

In 1975, she, her husband Ted and twin babies Laura and Will moved to Seawall Road. Since that move, Anne has been an integral part of her Mount Desert Island Community.

Primarily, a Master Teacher in Union 98, she added real estate brokerage after being widowed in 1994 as a way to supplement her income.

Whether in a classroom or out in the field helping clients, Anne's communication and organizational skills are an asset, as are her experience in dealing with people, listening, and thinking outside of the "rectangle."

Margo Stanley, our founder and native of Mt. Desert Island, has a background in real estate, banking and property management. She and her husband, Steve, President of Stephen Stanley Electrical Contractor, Inc., have an active history in community affairs. They have two grown children and four grandchildren. The Stanley's enjoy Mt Desert Island to its fullest and yachting the Maine coast. They have owned and operated quality shorefront rental cottages for over thirty years.
